Something does not compute.
That Red Band cover is dated 1945 TWICE -- see indicia on inside front cover.
Fox Dorothy Lamour was published in 1950.
How is a 1950 comic remaindered in a 1945 comic?
Maybe quantum mechanics is involved.

The Cover was used on several 1950's comics.
Do a search for Red Circle Comics 4 on someplace like mycomicshop.com and you will see several titles that used that cover. From their notes: over to Red Circle Comics # 4 re-used on a 1950's Crime Does Not Pay comic. NOTE: Leftover covers from #4 were stapled to various early 1950's comics without covers. Known books are Woman Outlaws, Dorothy Lamour, Crime Does Not Pay, Sabu, Diary Loves, Love Confessions, & Young Love Vol. 3 # 3.
And from Overstreet, basically the same thing: 4-(Dated 4/45)-Leftover covers to #4 were later restapled over early 1950s coverless comics;
variations in the coverless comics used are endless; Woman Outlaws, Dorothy Lamour,
Crime Does Not Pay, Sabu, Diary Loves, Love Confessions & Young Love V3#3 known |

Jon,
I would agree that the contents here are almost certainly the unpublished contents of a probable Dorothy Lamour # 4 from late 1950. Despite the cover date, it's quite likely this the Red Circle cover was continued to be used for available comics material until at least this date. The missing first page from the first story would have been on the inside of the original Fox cover, so it would be nice to imagine that a copy of the cover may have survived somewhere. Nice find indeed! |
