Interesting artwork (at least the first few pages). Downloaded for further perusal. Thank you! |

Gags was less of a sexy gag magazine than the others in this collection. It was magazine sized (at least after 1948, as it was a broadsheet before that) and bought all the unsold cartoons from the mid range cartoonists for $15 or so (whereas their normal clients payed $30 to $50). It has work by all the big names from that period: from Mort Walker and Dave Gerard to Henry Boltinoff and Bo Brown. Most of these guys later had to turn to drawing sexy cartoons, but everything in Gags was also suitable for The Saturday Evening Post, Colliers and True. |

Includes many cartoons by Mort Walker and Henry Boltinoff -- and also Reamer Keller and Disney cartoonist Paul Murry. Top-notch work, head and shoulders above the quality seen in other digest gag books. (PS...very mainstream, not risque at all) Thanks for sharing!! |
