Comment: Avenger and Teena, the aliases of wealthy Rod Hathway and his secretary Dot Kenny, star in a 3 part story about bringing down a space pirate. Avenger is also the Space Detective of the 3 worlds, Earth, Mars, Venus. The art is by Wally Wood and Joe Orlando so the comic looks good and the future looks well designed. The story, is driven more by situation than wild ideas, and although the number of rays keep multiplying, they are not too outrageous. In the final chapter the Avenger proves himself to be such a reckless idiot that it lowers the quality of the story a bit, but luckily his enemy Maag, never kills him when he has the chance. The whole thing is roughly on a par with Golden Age pulp sci fi from one of the mags of the day. High points are--- Veena the Venusian dancer, who is a real knockout, and you gotta love Avenger's beautifully styled desk-- pure Wally Wood. The last story is an insipid Lucky Dale Girl Detective and is contemporary with its publication date, no spaceships no rays. PS Some people believe the art is by Sid Check who does a good Wood imitation. Anyway looks like Wood.
