Let Freedom Ring! |
Synopsis: |
The Civics Clubbers see factory workers on strike and ask Sister Concillia about workers and unions. She shows them a film that tells the Church's stance on management and labor. In 1885, Pope Leo XIII issued his great letter "On The Condition of Labor," and 40 years later, Pope Pius XI defended Pope Leo XIII's principles from misunderstanding and extended them to modern problems. Both Popes insisted that workers be paid a living wage and that governments should pass laws to protect the working man. Joe remembered that under communism, they were always asked to work faster and paid poorly. |
